Honorius Craxus
My name is Honorius Craxus and I am a legionary who fought alongside Caesar in Gaul and in the Battle of Pharsalus against Pompey. I am here to testify that Julius Caesar is not a tyrant but rather, a hero. He is the greatest military commander and leader Rome has ever beheld and has saved our nation from ruin and corruption. Moreover, if Caesar were to continue his reign, Rome would go on to become the most powerful nation in the world.
As I am a part of the legion, I had the honour to bear witness to Caesar's leadership skills first hand. His use of diplomatic and strategic brilliancy took the city of Gaul with no trouble. On the other hand, in Pharsalus, Caesar was met with much more resistance as Pompey's army was more heavily armed, with twice as many men. Despite these disadvantages, Caesar had managed to fight his way to victory. After these battles, Caesar has proven himself as a force to be fear and reckoned with, and therefore, make Rome immune to violence and civil war as no one will dare challenge him. In addition, I am convinced that under Caesar's command, Rome shall fall to none and continue in it's quest of world domination. These conquests not only allowed for the expansion of our empire, but also an income of tribute money and thus, increasing Rome's wealth. Furthermore, due to the recent passing of laws, Caesar has stated that this money is to be shared equally among Romans of the rich and poor. He has also assured the poor that they will not fall victim again to a corrupt government by condemning the treasurers of Rome to severe punishments if they were to steal or waste the money.
Caesar singularly rose above to answer the duty of saving Rome from graft and corruption. He knew he would have to face accusation of tyranny from fellow Romans, but he had still chosen to answer the call. This illustrates exactly how dedicated he is to Rome due to his understanding of sacrifice for the greater good. Moreover, he is continually making Rome a better place for all it's inhabitants. This includes the promotion of welfare and equality to all Romans, without the discrimination of wealth or status. Also, he has established that his more than competent in commanding an army by never having lost a battle-even those that were not in his favour. All in all, Caesar has proven himself to be a hero and should be cleared of all charges to his name.
